Since November...
We got a large-screen HD TV. Movies we have seen in HD include Casablanca and The Dark Crystal. I wish Disney would give up their slow-and-limited-time release schedule and hurry up with the HD versions of Miyazaki's movies. So far it's just Ponyo and, I think, My Neighbor Totoro.
We're loving Netflix Instant Queue--we've been running through the new Doctor Who series at the moment and are on the third season. David Tennant has replaced Tom Baker as my favorite Doctor. It was great seeing an episode with the (older) Sarah Jane Smith again. And K-9 too!
Christmas came and went with family gatherings.
I was so glad to be able to join in the Gould Family party and carol-singing with Joe on the piano! And I finally got to meet Jeannette (Aunt Bonnie's daughter) and her kids--three wonderful people!
Christmas in New Paltz was excellent as always. Lots of yummy seafood and family time on Christmas Eve--and Christine bringing a wonderful boyfriend! Doesn't seem that long ago that her dad first brought her mom to Christmas Eve dinner (gosh, I'm sounding old!)
Library jobs are few and far between: I've sent in a total of one resume a few weeks ago. Nothing else I qualify for has turned up within a feasible commuting distance (my current commute is barely feasible!) ::sigh::
Stasa and Sue visited overnight in January--it was great to see them and to talk folkdancing and cats, see some cool YouTube videos with them on our new TV, and eat oatmeal-bread French toast in the morning before they left.
We tried a local Indian restaurant a couple of weeks ago--good food but far too noisy for us. I want to learn to cook Indian food, now that I have a few Japanese recipes under my belt.
I started cold-weather crop planting today: spinach and catnip. I'm experimenting to see if attracting local wandering kitties helps with the mole and vole problem. And we can rub a bit on the scratching posts to tempt Ivan away from our shoes and our new (closeout sale) computer chair.
We are thoroughly enjoying having a painted home. Pale-sage-green walls surround me at the moment. ::happy sigh::
I just registered us for Balticon (one of the better science fiction conventions, and right in Baltimore!) Memorial Day weekend. Tom Z. is coming up to visit for the con!
